The Influence of Vegetable Price Fluctuations, Access to Capital, and Business Experience on the Income of Permanent Traders at Tavip Market, Binjai City, in 2025
Abstract
This study examines the effect of perceived vegetable price changes, access to capital, and business experience on the income of permanent traders at Tavip Market, Binjai City. A quantitative, associative research design was applied to a population of 607 permanent traders, from which 85 respondents were drawn using the Slovin formula. Primary data were gathered through questionnaires and analyzed with multiple linear regression in IBM SPSS Statistics. The results show that access to capital and business experience partially and significantly affect traders' income, while perceived price change does not. Simultaneously, all three variables significantly influence traders' income. The model accounts for a modest share of income variation, with the remainder explained by factors beyond the model. These findings indicate that price stability, ease of access to capital, and business experience are important levers for raising the income of traditional-market traders, offering practical input for market managers and local government in designing trader-empowerment policies.
