Publication Ethics
This Publication Ethics policy defines the ethical responsibilities of authors, editors, peer reviewers, editorial-board members, and the publisher throughout the submission, peer-review, editorial, publication, and post-publication processes.
JAMBD's ethical framework is informed by recognized principles of good scholarly publishing practice, including the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices.
Editorial and publication decisions must be based on scientific merit, originality, methodological rigor, relevance, ethical compliance, and scholarly contribution, and must remain independent of financial, institutional, political, personal, or other inappropriate influence.
Publication in a peer-reviewed journal is an important part of the scholarly communication process. Published articles contribute to the permanent academic record and should therefore be produced through a process that is reliable, transparent, independent, and ethically responsible.
All parties involved in JAMBD's publication process are expected to act honestly, professionally, objectively, and responsibly. Fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, manipulation of peer review, inappropriate authorship, citation manipulation, duplicate publication, and other forms of research or publication misconduct are not permitted.
The Editor-in-Chief and responsible editors are accountable for deciding whether a manuscript should be accepted, revised, or rejected. Decisions are based on the manuscript's scientific quality, originality, relevance to JAMBD's scope, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, peer-review reports, and contribution to knowledge.
Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on academic merit and relevance without discrimination based on nationality, institutional affiliation, gender, ethnicity, religion, personal background, political views, or other characteristics unrelated to the scientific quality of the manuscript.
Editors and editorial staff must protect confidential information relating to submitted manuscripts and may disclose such information only to persons legitimately involved in the editorial and peer-review process.
Editors must disclose relevant conflicts of interest and must not handle manuscripts where personal, professional, institutional, financial, or academic relationships could reasonably compromise editorial independence. Such manuscripts must be reassigned to an independent editor.
Editors must not use unpublished information, data, ideas, or materials contained in a submitted manuscript for their own research or personal advantage without the authors' explicit permission.
Peer reviewers play an essential role in supporting editorial decisions and improving the scientific quality of manuscripts. JAMBD reviewers are expected to provide independent, constructive, evidence-based, and confidential evaluations.
- Contribution to Editorial Decisions: reviewers should provide substantive scholarly comments that assist editors in making informed decisions and assist authors in improving their manuscripts.
- Expertise and Promptness: reviewers who lack appropriate expertise or cannot complete the review within a reasonable period should promptly decline the invitation.
- Confidentiality: manuscripts, reviewer assignments, data, figures, supplementary files, and editorial correspondence must be treated as confidential.
- Objectivity: peer review should be conducted objectively and professionally. Personal criticism, discriminatory language, or unsupported allegations are inappropriate.
- Acknowledgment of Sources: reviewers should identify relevant scholarly literature that may have been overlooked and alert the editor to significant similarity, overlap, or possible plagiarism when observed.
- Conflict of Interest: reviewers must disclose relevant competing interests and should decline manuscripts where impartial evaluation cannot reasonably be assured.
- No Personal Use: confidential information or ideas obtained through peer review must not be used for personal, scholarly, financial, or competitive advantage.
Reviewers must not upload confidential manuscripts, unpublished data, figures, supplementary files, or editorial correspondence into public generative AI systems.
Generative AI must not replace the reviewer's own expert judgment or be used to generate the substantive peer-review report.
- Accurate Reporting: authors must present an accurate account of the research conducted and provide an objective discussion of its significance. Data and findings must not be fabricated, falsified, manipulated, or selectively reported in a misleading manner.
- Originality: submitted manuscripts must represent original scholarly work. Ideas, words, data, figures, tables, and other materials obtained from other sources must be properly cited and attributed.
- Multiple or Concurrent Submission: the same or substantially similar manuscript must not be submitted simultaneously to more than one journal.
- Acknowledgment of Sources: authors must properly acknowledge relevant previous research and provide accurate citations to sources that informed the work.
- Authorship: authorship must be limited to individuals who made substantial scholarly contributions and who accept responsibility for the work. Guest, gift, honorary, ghost, fabricated, and purchased authorship are prohibited.
- Author Contributions: the final article should clearly identify the contribution of each author.
- Conflict of Interest: authors must disclose relevant financial and non-financial competing interests. If no conflict exists, this should be stated explicitly.
- Funding: authors must disclose sources of financial support, grants, sponsorship, or other funding relevant to the research.
- Research Data: authors must maintain adequate records supporting the published findings and comply with the journal's Research Data / Data Availability Policy.
- Ethical Approval and Informed Consent: research involving human participants, personal data, or animals must comply with applicable ethical requirements. Authors must provide relevant ethical approval numbers and informed-consent information where required.
- Fundamental Errors: when authors discover a significant error or reliability concern in their published article, they must promptly notify the journal and cooperate in correcting or retracting the scholarly record where necessary.
JAMBD does not tolerate research or publication misconduct. Misconduct may include, but is not limited to:
- fabrication or falsification of data;
- plagiarism or substantial unattributed reuse;
- duplicate or redundant publication;
- citation manipulation;
- peer-review manipulation;

Allegations of misconduct will be assessed according to the journal's Research Misconduct Policy. The journal may request raw data, research records, ethical documentation, authorship evidence, or institutional clarification where appropriate.
Authors must disclose material use of generative AI or AI-assisted tools in research, analysis, coding, image generation or modification, translation, or manuscript preparation where such use materially contributed to the scholarly work.
Authors remain fully responsible for verifying all AI-assisted content, references, data, interpretations, and conclusions.
AI must not be used to fabricate data, references, participants, results, images, or evidence, or to conceal plagiarism or other misconduct.
Authors should preserve research records and provide sufficient methodological and data information to allow readers to understand, evaluate, and, where appropriate, reproduce the study.
Published articles should include a Data Availability Statement explaining whether the supporting data are publicly available, available upon reasonable request, restricted for legitimate ethical/legal reasons, or not applicable to the study.
