JAMBD applies originality screening and editorial review to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.
1. Originality Requirement
All submissions must be original scholarly work. Text, ideas, data, images, tables, instruments, or other materials from another source must be appropriately attributed and cited.
2. Similarity Screening
JAMBD screens manuscripts using Turnitin or another appropriate similarity-detection system. Similarity reports are editorial screening aids and are interpreted in context. A percentage alone does not determine whether plagiarism has occurred.
3. Forms of Plagiarism
Prohibited conduct includes direct copying without attribution, close paraphrasing without citation, unattributed translation, plagiarism of ideas or data, image/table reuse without permission or attribution, and misleading self-plagiarism or redundant reuse.
4. Action Before Publication
Depending on severity, the editor may request clarification or revision, reject the manuscript, or refer the matter for further integrity review.
5. Action After Publication
If plagiarism materially affects originality or reliability after publication, JAMBD may issue a correction, retraction, or other notice.
6. Duplicate / Redundant Publication
The same or substantially overlapping manuscript must not be submitted to multiple journals simultaneously. Closely related prior work must be disclosed at submission.
Editorial Judgment
Similarity detection is a screening tool, not an automatic decision system. Editors consider source, amount, location, attribution, scholarly necessity, and pattern of overlap.
Policy Commitment
JAMBD applies this policy consistently to protect editorial independence, research integrity, transparency, and the reliability of the scholarly record.
