The Influence of Safety Culture and Organizational Climate on Employees' Operational Performance at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Fuel Terminal Sei Siak
Abstract
Employee operational performance in the energy distribution industry is influenced by various organizational factors, particularly safety culture and organizational climate. However, the implementation of these factors has not been fully optimized, potentially affecting employees' work effectiveness. This study aimed to examine the influence of safety culture and organizational climate on the operational performance of employees at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Fuel Terminal Sei Siak. This research employed a quantitative approach with an associative research design. The sample consisted of 78 operational employees selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires and documentation and analyzed using descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, t-test, F-test, and the coefficient of determination with IBM SPSS Statistics. The results revealed that safety culture had a positive and significant effect on operational performance (β = 0.193; p = 0.030), while organizational climate exerted a stronger positive and significant effect (β = 0.389; p = 0.001). Simultaneously, both variables significantly affected operational performance (F = 12.744; p = 0.000) with an Adjusted R² of 0.234. These findings highlight that strengthening safety culture and fostering a supportive organizational climate are essential for improving employees' operational performance sustainably.
