Abstract

The development of teacher competence in science learning is a crucial aspect of efforts to improve the cognitive abilities of early childhood learners, including logical thinking, problem-solving skills, curiosity, and exploratory abilities. During early childhood, appropriate cognitive stimulation through science learning plays a significant role in shaping children’s intellectual development. However, in practice, many early childhood education teachers still face limitations in designing and implementing innovative and meaningful science learning, particularly in utilizing digital-based learning media.Digital-based science learning media, such as interactive instructional videos, have great potential to support teachers in presenting scientific concepts in a concrete, contextual, and engaging manner for young children. These media not only increase children’s learning interest and curiosity but also facilitate cognitive processes through observation, questioning, experimentation, and conclusion drawing. Nevertheless, the integration of digital media in early childhood science learning continues to face several challenges, including low levels of teachers’ digital literacy, limited skills in developing digital-based science learning content, and insufficient guidance on the pedagogical and safe use of digital media for young learners. Through this Community Service Program (PKM), early childhood education teachers are provided with training and mentoring focused on designing and implementing science learning using digital-based media. This program aims to equip teachers with the knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes needed to utilize digital media effectively, creatively, and in accordance with the characteristics of early childhood learners. It is expected that the improvement of teacher competence will have a direct impact on enhancing the quality of science learning and the cognitive development of early childhood learners, while also supporting the realization of adaptive early childhood education in the digital era.
