Penguatan Mutu Kemasan Tepung Talas Melalui Continuous Band Sealer Kelompok Mandiri Pati
Abstract
Pati Regency has significant potential in the development of horticultural commodities, particularly Pratama taro, which has high production levels. However, the increase in production has not been matched by adequate post-harvest processing capacity, resulting in accumulation and spoilage of harvested products. The Self-Employed Worker Group (TKM) “Karya Bersama” in Koripandriyo Village has processed taro into flour as an intermediate product with higher economic value. Nevertheless, the packaging process still relies on a hand sealer, leading to suboptimal sealing quality, a higher risk of leakage, longer processing time, and reduced product competitiveness in the market. Therefore, this community service activity was conducted to improve packaging quality through the implementation of Continuous Band Sealer technology. The implementation methods included partner situation analysis, provision of Continuous Band Sealer equipment, training on machine operation and maintenance, assistance during production implementation, and evaluation through observation, pre-test and post-test, as well as measurement of packaging time efficiency. The results showed that the use of the Continuous Band Sealer produced tighter, more uniform, and airtight seals, thereby reducing the risk of packaging leakage. In addition, packaging time became significantly shorter, resulting in increased production capacity. Training participants also demonstrated improved knowledge and skills in independently operating the machine. In conclusion, the implementation of Continuous Band Sealer technology effectively enhances packaging quality and production efficiency, while strengthening product competitiveness and supporting the sustainability of the partner’s business.
