Meningkatkan Kepercayaan Diri Berbahasa Inggris Siswa Kelas V SD Negeri 02 Kota Bengkulu Berbasis Joyful Learning
Abstract
Primary school pupils must have the courage to speak English with confidence. Using the Joyful Learning approach, this community service initiative aims to boost the confidence of Year 5 pupils at SD Negeri 02 in Bengkulu City when speaking English. The programme was carried out with 20 pupils through enjoyable communicative learning activities. These activities included group-based educational games, songs, the use of visual and audiovisual media, speaking practice based on simple procedural texts, and contextual storytelling activities. The implementation techniques comprised a needs analysis phase, learning support, and evaluation based on observation of pupils’ behaviour. The results of the activity showed an improvement in indicators of pupils’ self-confidence. These included greater courage to speak voluntarily, a louder voice, more stable eye contact, more active participation in classroom activities, and a more open attitude towards language errors. Therefore, the Joyful Learning approach proved effective in boosting pupils’ self-confidence in learning English and reducing speaking anxiety.
