Policy introduction
The Journal of Nursing and Public Health publishes scholarship on nursing practice, healthcare delivery, epidemiology and population health. This policy sets out the editorial requirements and recommended procedures necessary to protect research integrity, patient welfare, scholarly quality and transparent publishing. It applies to relevant authors, editors, reviewers and other participants in the publication process.
1. Licence
Published articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0), consistent with the official submission Copyright Notice, unless a specific article states a clearly identified exception. Licence: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/ .
2. Copyright and first publication
Authors retain copyright and grant the journal a non-exclusive right of first publication and necessary rights to disseminate, index and archive the article. Copyright is not transferred to Unived Press merely through publication.
3. Reuse and attribution
Readers may copy, distribute, translate, adapt and reuse covered content, including commercially, provided appropriate author and article credit, source/DOI, licence link and change notices are supplied. Shared adaptations must use the same or an officially compatible licence. Attribution must not imply endorsement.
4. Third-party material
Patient images, clinical forms, proprietary assessments, questionnaires, figures and third-party content are not automatically licensed where excluded by a credit line. Authors must secure permissions, and third-party users must respect their terms.
5. Patient confidentiality and rights
A Creative Commons licence does not override privacy, consent, confidentiality, publicity, medical secrecy or data protection. Identifiable clinical materials require appropriate publication consent and ethical/legal clearance, regardless of reuse licensing.
6. Author self-archiving
Authors may share the published version in institutional or subject repositories and educational sites, subject to third-party rights, while citing the original journal publication and retaining licence notices.
7. Consistency and changes
Article landing pages, PDFs, OJS metadata and DOI metadata should show the correct copyright holder and licence. Changes to future licensing practice should be publicised and must not revoke rights already granted under valid existing licences.
8. Official notice
“Copyright © The Author(s). Authors retain copyright and grant the Journal of Nursing and Public Health the right of first publication. Articles are distributed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0).”
Implementation and governance
The Editorial Board should approve this policy, incorporate it into the Author Guidelines and applicable OJS submission or editorial workflows, and review it periodically. Any additional operational requirements described as recommendations must be verified and implemented before being represented as active journal practice.
