Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that new students' decisions are often not entirely based on clear factors when choosing a major. This study aims to determine the influence of future orientation, job prospects, and parental support on students' decisions to choose the Management major at FEB-UNTAD in 2025. The method used is descriptive quantitative. The population in this study consists of new students at FEB-UNTAD, with a sample of 165 students selected using the Slovin formula with a margin of error of 0.5%. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS 26, with validity tests, reliability tests, classical assumption tests, and hypothesis tests. The results show that future orientation, job prospects, and parental support simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on students' decisions to choose the Management major. Partially, all three variables positively influence the decision to choose a major, with a clear future orientation, promising job prospects, and strong parental support as the main driving factors in the selection of the Management major. These findings indicate that students tend to choose majors that can support the achievement of their long-term career goals, with consideration of strong external support from parents.
