Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the improvement of farmer group performance in Deli Serdang Regency, focusing on leadership, member participation, technology adoption, and agricultural extension support. The research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method, involving 120 respondents selected purposively from active farmer group members. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression after passing classical assumption tests, including normality, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, and autocorrelation tests. The results indicate that all independent variables simultaneously have a significant effect on farmer group performance. Partially, leadership has a significant positive effect, member participation emerges as the most dominant factor, technology adoption contributes to improved productivity and operational efficiency, and extension support significantly enhances farmers’ technical and managerial capabilities. The research model explains 64.5% of the variation in farmer group performance, while the remaining portion is influenced by other factors beyond the model. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening leadership capacity, increasing member participation, accelerating agricultural technology adoption, and intensifying extension services as strategic efforts to enhance the performance of farmer groups in Deli Serdang Regency.
