EDITORIAL POLICY • Proposed for Editorial Board approval

Policy framework

This policy governs scholarly submissions and publications in midwifery, reproductive health, maternal and newborn care. It should be read with the journal’s Author Guidelines, editorial ethics requirements and applicable law. Operational measures proposed here take effect only after approval and technical implementation by the Editorial Board and publisher.

1. Objective

The journal is committed to the accessibility, authenticity, integrity, discoverability and long-term continuity of its published midwifery and reproductive-health research. Electronic access through OJS, operational backups and independent digital preservation are distinct, complementary safeguards.

2. Public electronic archive

The journal maintains its publicly accessible issues and articles through the OJS archive at https://jurnal.unived.ac.id/index.php/JM/issue/archive. Article records should display titles, author details, abstracts, publication dates, volume/issue details and full-text files. Published corrections, expressions of concern and retractions must remain discoverable and linked to the original article.

3. Preserved content and metadata

Preservation planning should cover final article files, supplementary publications, licence statements, bibliographic metadata, DOI and ORCID information where available, corrections and retraction notices, and issue-level records. Confidential review reports, identifiable patient data and unpublished manuscripts require separately restricted retention and access safeguards.

4. File integrity and persistent identifiers

Published files should be protected from silent alteration and accidental loss. Technical administrators should maintain role-based access controls, audit trails and, where feasible, checksum verification. DOI records, if assigned, must resolve to valid article landing pages and be updated after platform changes.

5. Operational backup and recovery

The publisher should implement documented database and file backups, geographically or logically separate copies, controlled access and periodic restoration testing. Proposed operational targets are daily incremental backups, weekly complete backups and quarterly recovery tests, subject to documented technical approval. These targets must not be described as implemented until confirmed.

6. Independent preservation

The publisher should assess eligible external preservation options such as the PKP Preservation Network, LOCKSS or CLOCKSS and retain proof of successful preservation deposits where adopted. Presence of an OJS archive alone does not demonstrate participation in any preservation network; the journal must disclose only verified services and coverage.

7. Continuity and security

Preservation plans should cover hosting failure, cybersecurity incidents, migration, discontinued publication and changes in the publisher. Recovery should preserve persistent identifiers and access to past articles. Clinical data and confidential peer-review records must not be exposed through public archives or backups.

8. Governance and review

The publisher supports infrastructure and backup arrangements; editors maintain reliable published records; authorised technical staff execute documented controls. The Editorial Board should review the preservation plan annually and communicate significant verified changes on the journal website.
