Abstract

Education is a strategic step in ensuring the progress of a nation. This can be achieved if education is based on a form of educational services that spur productivity, innovation, and character building of a society. The role of teachers in fulfilling all of the above aspects is central to realizing the dreams of a nation. Motivation for teachers serves as a driving force to carry out their duties with full dedication and creativity. Meanwhile, compensation, which is not only in the form of salary but also allowances and other awards, is seen as a form of appreciation for professionalism and efforts to meet the needs of teachers' lives, thereby creating a sense of security and job satisfaction. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of motivation and compensation (dependent variables) on teacher performance (independent variables) on teacher performance at the Tunas Karya Foundation, Batam Region 2. The population in this study were all teachers of the Tunas Karya Foundation, Batam Region 2, with a sample of 60 respondents. The questionnaire was filled out via Google Form by 60 teachers. The technique used was saturated sampling. The results of the study indicate that: motivation has a significant influence on teacher performance with the results of the t-count calculation of 2.976 > t-table 2.005 and a significance value of 0.004 < α 0.05. While compensation has a negative influence on teacher performance with the results of the t-count calculation of -0.747 < t-table 2.005 and a significance value of 0.458 > 0.05.
