The Influence of Work Culture and Work Discipline on Employee Performance with Work Motivation as a Moderating Variable
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of work culture and work discipline on employee performance with motivation as a moderating variable at the Regional Secretariat of Musi Rawas Regency. This study uses a quantitative method with a population of 348 employees and a sample of 187 respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) method. The results show that work culture has a positive and significant effect on employee performance with a t-statistic value of 4.095 and a p-value of 0.000. Work discipline also has a positive and significant effect on employee performance with a t-statistic value of 1.914 and a p-value of 0.000. Simultaneously, work culture and work discipline have a significant effect on employee performance with a p-value of 0.000. The moderation test results indicate that motivation does not moderate the effect of work culture on employee performance (t = 2.590; p = 0.056), but motivation moderates the effect of work discipline on employee performance (t = 3.799; p = 0.010). This study has limitations because it was only conducted on employees of the Regional Secretariat of Musi Rawas Regency, so the results may not be generalized to other government institutions. This research contributes to the field of human resource management, particularly in improving employee performance through strengthening work culture, work discipline, and motivation in public sector organizations
