Edukasi Pencegahan Deteksi Dini Hepatitis B Pada Ibu Hamil Di Wilayah Pesisir Kota Bengkulu
Abstract
Hepatitis B in pregnant women is a serious global, national, and local health issue due to the high risk of transmission from mother to child (vertical transmission), which can lead to chronic infections, serious complications for newborns, and even death. The aim of this community service activity is to increase knowledge and awareness among pregnant women about the importance of early detection of hepatitis B (HBsAg) in expectant mothers. The implementation method of this community service is conducted over 1 month (September to October 2025) in the working area of the Padang Serai health center in Bengkulu City. The number of participants is 50 pregnant women. The stages of this community service activity are divided into three: the preparation stage begins with the identification of respondents, the implementation stage consists of health education, and the monitoring and evaluation stage includes administering pre/post test sheets. During this activity, interactive counseling was provided along with tools and materials used during the community service. The tools used are a computer, speaker, pre and post-test sheets, materials in the form of leaflets and PowerPoint. The results of this activity showed that out of 50 participants (pregnant women), 22% were aged 21-25 years, 50% had completed junior/senior high school, 56% were multigravidae, 54% had not undergone HBsAg tests, 80% had been married once, 76% used hormonal contraceptives, and 28% were employed as fishermen. In the pre-test, the lowest score was 50 and the highest score was 70, while the lowest score in the post-test was 70 and the highest score achieved was 100. The analysis results indicate that most participants were able to understand the material on hepatitis B early detection prevention very well after education was provided. In conclusion, this educational activity successfully increased the knowledge and awareness of pregnant women and health cadres regarding the benefits of education for early detection of HBsAg. The recommendation for pregnant women is to prioritize screening when conducting antenatal care (ANC) make sure to carry out hepatitis B testing, this test is very important for the health of both mother and child.
