Abstract

This research reports on the Community Service (PKM) activities conducted by lecturers and students from the Physical Education Study Program at Universitas Dehasen Bengkulu. The initiative focused on environmental preservation through the planting of 1000 sengon tree seedlings in Malakoni Village, specifically within the vicinity of SMA Negeri 6 Bengkulu Utara, Enggano Island, North Bengkulu. The primary objectives of this PKM were to enhance environmental awareness, foster a spirit of mutual cooperation, and make a tangible contribution to the greening of an area frequently affected by natural phenomena. The methodology involved initial site observation, meticulous activity planning, coordination with school authorities and the local community, and the direct implementation of tree planting by the PKM team, with active participation from the high school students. The key findings of this undertaking demonstrate the successful planting of 1000 sengon tree seedlings, meeting the set target, an increased enthusiasm and participation of students in environmental preservation activities, and the establishment of positive relationships between the academic community of Universitas Dehasen Bengkulu and the residents of Malakoni Village. The conclusion drawn from this study is that such PKM activities are highly effective in achieving dual objectives: environmental education and the implementation of concrete actions for ecosystem sustainability, thereby strengthening the university’s role in community empowerment.
