Abstract

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Hepatitis B is a global health problem that can lead to cirrhosis and liver cancer and has a risk of being transmitted from mother to baby. In Indonesia, the prevalence of Hepatitis B remains high, making screening among pregnant women very important to prevent vertical transmission. This study aims to determine the effect of health education using video and poster media on the level of knowledge of pregnant women regarding Hepatitis B screening in the working area of Padang Serai Public Health Center, Bengkulu City, in 2025. The research method used was a quantitative study with a quasi-experimental design using a pre–posttest approach. The sampling technique used was a two-group design, with a total sample of 30 pregnant women who met the inclusion criteria at the Padang Serai Public Health Center, Bengkulu City, in 2025. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire to measure the level of knowledge before and after being given health education using video and poster media. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Wilcoxon test. The univariate results showed that in the video group before the intervention, most respondents had poor knowledge (13 people) and sufficient knowledge (2 people). After the intervention, all respondents improved to the good category (15 people). In the poster group before the intervention, 11 respondents had poor knowledge, 2 had sufficient knowledge, and 2 had good knowledge. After the intervention, the good category increased to 10 respondents, sufficient to 1 respondent, and poor decreased to 4 respondents. The bivariate analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed a significant effect between before and after health education using both video and poster media among pregnant women, with a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05) in both the video and poster groups. The researcher suggests that the Padang Serai Public Health Center should routinely utilize video and poster media in health promotion activities to increase awareness among pregnant women regarding Hepatitis B screening
