Abstract

This research is motivated by the prevalence of dishonest behavior in higher education, such as plagiarism and data manipulation, which indicates a weak implementation of honesty values ​​and anti-corruption culture among students. In this context, local wisdom is seen as an effective medium for instilling national moral and ethical values ​​relevant to character education. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent to which students understand and apply the value of honesty and assess the role of local wisdom as a means of building anti-corruption character in higher education. The study used a mixed methods approach, with 30 students from STISIP Samudera Indonesia Selatan as respondents. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and open-ended questions, then analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative content analysis. The results showed that students have a high understanding of honesty values ​​and local wisdom with an average score above the "agree" category, and place honesty as a primary value in academic and social life. Local wisdom such as deliberation, mutual cooperation, and a sense of shame in cheating are considered relevant to forming an anti-corruption character. The campus plays an important role through the example of lecturers, institutional transparency, and the integration of cultural values ​​into the curriculum. It is recommended that universities strengthen character education based on local culture in order to produce a generation with integrity, honesty, and commitment to anti-corruption values.
