Analisis Kritis Atas Pernyataan “Maafkan Koruptor” Prabowo Subianto

Abstract

This research examines President Prabowo Subianto's controversial statement on forgiveness for corruptors delivered in Cairo, Egypt, on December 18, 2024. Using Norman Fairclough's three-dimensional Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) method, this research analyzes the meaning, power, and ideology in the discourse. In the text dimension, ambiguity strategies were found through informal diction, uncertain modality, and paternalistic language structure. At the level of discourse practice, the speech experienced a shift in meaning when delivered by the media, from official documentation to controversial issues. While at the sociocultural dimension, this discourse reflects public anxiety about corruption as well as efforts to utilize presidential authority to shape opinions. The results show that the statement is a hegemonic practice that normalizes compromises to legal accountability and strengthens power relations.
