General Requirements

Authors submitting manuscripts to Jurnal Multidisiplin Dehasen (MUDE) must follow these Author Guidelines and the current official MUDE article template. Manuscripts that do not comply with the journal's scope, template, ethical requirements, metadata requirements, or minimum scholarly standards may be returned during initial editorial screening.

Submitted manuscripts must be original, must not have been previously published in substantially the same form, and must not be under simultaneous consideration by another journal.

1. Submission Method

All manuscripts must be submitted through the official MUDE Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform:

Email and messaging applications are not official manuscript-submission routes. Formal submission, peer review, revision, editorial decisions, and production records must be maintained through OJS.

2. Focus and Scope

MUDE is a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary journal covering the following broad fields:

  • Humanities — arts, history, language, literature, philosophy, religion, culture, theatre, and related disciplines.
  • Social Sciences — sociology, education, political science, law, public policy, public administration, communication, anthropology, geography, and related areas.
  • Management, Economics and Business — management, economics, finance, accounting, governance, human resources, marketing, entrepreneurship, and related disciplines.
  • Engineering and Technology — information technology, computer applications, information systems, civil, mechanical, chemical and electrical engineering, applied physics, and related fields.
  • Health Sciences — medicine, public health, nursing, midwifery, clinical research, pharmacy, pharmacology, and related fields.
  • Biological and Life Sciences — biology, microbiology, biotechnology, biochemistry, agriculture, environment, ecology, food science, nutrition, zoology, fisheries, and related fields.
  • Physical Education and Sports Science — sports, exercise science, physical education, physiotherapy, physiology, fitness, and health-related sports studies.

3. Accepted Manuscript Types

Original Research Article

Reports original empirical, experimental, quantitative, qualitative, mixed-method, computational, or other scholarly research.

Review Article / Systematic Review

Critically synthesises existing literature. Systematic reviews should report databases, search strategy, eligibility criteria, screening, and synthesis procedures, using a recognised reporting framework such as PRISMA when appropriate.

Conceptual / Theoretical Paper

Develops theoretical arguments, conceptual models, propositions, frameworks, or critical scholarly interpretations supported by appropriate literature.

Case Study

Provides rigorous analysis of a case, intervention, organisation, phenomenon, policy, technology, or professional practice with transferable scholarly or practical insight.

Technical / Applied Paper

Describes and evaluates a technical product, process, system, method, prototype, application, or other applied innovation using appropriate design and evaluation criteria.

4. Language and Manuscript File

Manuscripts may be written in Indonesian or English. Authors must use the current official MUDE DOCX template and submit an editable word-processing file. Language should be clear, concise, academically appropriate, and professionally proofread where necessary.

5. Title

Titles must be specific, informative, and reflect the main finding or scholarly contribution.

  • For Indonesian full-text articles, provide titles in Indonesian and English.
  • For English full-text articles, the English title is sufficient.
  • Avoid unnecessary study-location wording unless the location is substantively important to the research question or interpretation.

6. Author Names, Affiliations and ORCID

  • Write author names without academic degrees or professional titles.
  • Provide department/study program, faculty where applicable, institution, city, and country.
  • Identify the corresponding author with an asterisk (*).
  • Provide the corresponding author's institutional email address.
  • ORCID iD is strongly recommended for all authors and should be provided for the corresponding author.

7. Abstract and Keywords

The abstract should contain approximately 150–200 words and must be self-contained, without citations, tables, figures, or undefined abbreviations.

It should concisely state:

  • the research objective;
  • the method or analytical approach;
  • the principal findings; and
  • the main conclusion or contribution.

Provide 3–5 keywords that accurately represent the manuscript topic and improve discoverability.

8. Manuscript Structure

For an Original Research Article, the recommended structure is:

  1. Introduction / Pendahuluan
  2. Literature Review / Theoretical Framework — optional as a separate section
  3. Research Method / Metode Penelitian
  4. Results and Discussion / Hasil dan Pembahasan
  5. Conclusion and Implications / Kesimpulan dan Implikasi
  6. Acknowledgments — if applicable
  7. Declarations
  8. References / Daftar Pustaka

The structure may be adapted for systematic reviews, theoretical papers, case studies, or technical/applied papers when justified by the manuscript type.

9. Introduction

The Introduction should clearly contain:

  • the research problem and significance;
  • a critical state-of-the-art synthesis;
  • a clearly identified research gap;
  • an explicit novelty or original-contribution statement; and
  • research objective(s), research question(s), and/or hypotheses where applicable.

10. Research Method

Because MUDE is multidisciplinary, the method must be appropriate to the discipline and manuscript type and should be described with sufficient transparency for evaluation or replication.

Where relevant, report:

  • research design and setting/context;
  • population, sample, respondents, participants, or data source;
  • sampling procedure;
  • variables, constructs, or operational definitions;
  • instruments and validity/reliability or qualitative trustworthiness;
  • data-collection procedures;
  • analysis method, model specification, and software;
  • robustness or diagnostic testing where appropriate; and
  • ethical approval and informed consent where applicable.

11. Results and Discussion

Results should be presented clearly and accurately. The Discussion must interpret rather than merely repeat results, relate findings to relevant theory and recent literature, explain agreements or contradictions with previous research, and state the appropriate disciplinary, interdisciplinary, practical, technological, social, educational, health, managerial, or policy contribution.

12. Conclusion and Implications

The conclusion must directly answer the research objective(s), emphasise the principal new or important finding, and remain supported by the reported results. Authors should identify relevant theoretical and/or practical implications. Limitations and focused future research directions may be included. Do not introduce new results or citations in the conclusion.

13. Tables and Figures

  • Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively.
  • Each table and figure must be cited in the text.
  • Titles and captions must be clear and informative.
  • Figures must be legible and of adequate resolution.
  • Sources must be identified where relevant, and authors are responsible for obtaining permissions for copyrighted third-party material.

14. Required Declarations

The final published article should contain clearly identifiable declarations where applicable:

AI Use Disclosure
State whether generative AI or AI-assisted tools were used and for what purpose.
Author Contributions
Describe individual contributions, preferably using CRediT roles.
Funding Statement
Identify the funder and grant number or state that no specific funding was received.
Conflict of Interest
Declare relevant competing interests or state that none exist.
Data Availability
Identify the repository/DOI/URL or explain legitimate access restrictions.
Ethics Approval / Informed Consent
For relevant studies, identify the ethics committee or institution, approval number, and consent information. If not applicable, state: Not applicable.

15. References

References must follow APA Style 7th edition consistently.

  • Include at least 15 relevant references as a working minimum for standard research articles.
  • Prioritise peer-reviewed primary research sources.
  • As a working quality target, aim for more than 80% primary sources.
  • As a working quality target, aim for more than 80% references from the last 10 years, while retaining classic or seminal references when genuinely relevant.
  • Every in-text citation must appear in the reference list and vice versa.
  • Provide DOI links in the format https://doi.org/... whenever available.
  • Use a reference manager such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote to improve consistency.

16. Research and Publication Ethics

Authors must comply with MUDE policies concerning authorship, plagiarism, research misconduct, conflict of interest, ethical oversight, data availability, artificial intelligence, copyright, licensing, corrections, and other publication-integrity requirements.

17. Peer Review and Revision

Manuscripts passing editorial screening undergo double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers.

Authors must respond to reviewer comments carefully and upload the revised manuscript and response through OJS. A revision request does not guarantee acceptance.

18. After Acceptance

Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, layout, proofing, metadata verification, DOI registration, and scheduling for publication. Authors are expected to review proofs carefully and respond within the period specified by the editorial office.

19. Article Processing Charge

MUDE does not charge a submission fee or peer-review fee. The Article Processing Charge is IDR 500,000 per accepted article and becomes payable only after formal acceptance. Payment does not influence peer review or editorial decisions.

20. Copyright and Licence

Authors retain copyright and grant MUDE the non-exclusive right of first publication. Published articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).
