Abstract

Purpose of this research is to analyze the influence of workload and work environment on employee performance, both partially and simultaneously, at the Department of Communication and Informatics of North Sumatra Province. Methods used is a quantitative associative approach with a population and sample of 63 permanent employees (Civil Servants). Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS V.26 software. The results show that partially, workload has a positive and significant effect on employee performance (sig. 0.002 < 0.05; tcount 2.199 > ttable 1.669). Similarly, the work environment also has a positive and significant partial effect (sig. 0.001 < 0.05; tcount 3.300 > ttable 1.669). Simultaneously, workload and work environment together have a positive and significant effect on employee performance (sig. 0.000 < 0.05; Fcount 23.476 > Ftable 3.14). The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.404 indicates that 40.4% of the variation in employee performance can be explained by these two variables. Conclusion, both workload and work environment are important determining factors in improving employee performance in this agency. Management is advised to pay attention to proportional assignments and create a more comfortable and conducive work environment.
