Effectiveness of Mindfulness -Based Mental Health Training to reduce anxiety in the elderly in the working area of Tebing Tinggi Empat Lawang Health Center
Abstract
Globally, the prevalence of anxiety in the elderly reaches an average of 16.5%. The prevalence of the anxiety of the elderly in Africa reaches 29.5%, while in East Asia ranges from 11.2% to 24.3% depending on environmental and socioeconomic factors. Mindfulness -based mental health training emerged as a potential intervention approach. Mindfulness, which is defined as full awareness of the current experience non-judgmental, serves to develop emotional regulations and reduce excessive stress reactivity. The purpose of this study is known to be the effectiveness of Mindfulness -based mental health training to reduce anxiety in the elderly in the work area of Tebing Tinggi Empat Lawang Health Center. The research design used in this study was Quasi ExpereMintal Design with the design of "Two Group Pre Test-Post Test". The population in this study was the elderly who were in the area to the Tebing Tinggi Four Lawang Health Center with a total population of 65. Total population was obtained from the data contained in the Tebing Tinggi Empat Lawang Health Center. In this study using sampling techniques, namely stratified random sampling. The number of respondents in this study was 65 respondents. The results of this study indicate the influence of the effectiveness of Mindfulness -based mental health training to reduce anxiety in the elderly in the work area of Tebing Tinggi Empat Lawang Health Center. Suggestions This research can be a quality academic reference material and become a foothold in curriculum development and learning modules related to psychosocial interventions for the elderly
