The Relationship Between Age And Menarche Knowledge In Adolescent Girls And The Incidence Of Dysmenorrhea At SMAN 1 Tebing Tinggi 2025
Abstract
Adolescence is an important phase where children experience major changes towards adulthood. In girls, menstruation is one of the signs of the onset of puberty. Based on data from the World Health Organization (WHO) the incidence of dysmenorrhea in the world is still very high, the incidence of dysmenorrhea is 1,769,425. In Indonesia the incidence of dysmenorrhea is 64.25%, consisting of 54.89% primary dysmenorrhea and 9.36% secondary dysmenorrhea that occurs in adolescents. Data from the Empat Lawang Regency Education Office in 2024, the number of female students at SMA 1 Tebing Tinggi was 482 students. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between age and knowledge of menarche in adolescent girls with the incidence of dysmenorrhea in SMA 1 Tebing Tinggi in 2025. The research design used Cross Sectional, which is a study to study the dynamics of the correlation between risk factors and effects, by means of an approach, observation or data collection simultaneously at one time. The population referred to in this study were 210 female adolescents at SMA 1 Tebing Tinggi in 2025, grades X and XI. The sample in this study was some of the female students at SMA 1 Tebing Tinggi in 2025. The sampling technique used Simple Random Sampling. The number of samples in this study was 68 respondents. The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between the age of female adolescents and dysmenorrhea at SMA 1 Tebing Tinggi in 2025 with a p value of 0.019. There is a relationship between knowledge of menarche of female adolescents and dysmenorrhea at SMA 1 Tebing Tinggi in 2025 with a p value of 0.012. Suggestions for this study can increase the knowledge and insight of researchers to be more capable in handling dysmenorrhea when menstruation occurs and improve the quality of life as well as being able to manage pain and stress in order to be able to control when dysmenorrhea occurs.
