Abstract

Fine motor development in toddlers requires consistent stimulation, while mothers as primary caregivers have an important role in caregiving, developmental support, and daily stimulation. To analyze the relationship between maternal roles and fine motor development among toddlers aged 1–5 years in Gandul Urban Village, Depok City. This quantitative analytic cross-sectional study was conducted from July to August 2025. The population comprised 259 toddlers and 157 respondents were selected using accidental sampling. Data were collected using a maternal-role questionnaire and Denver Developmental Screening Test observation and analyzed with univariate statistics and the Chi-square test. A total of 151 mothers (96.17%) had a good role, 131 toddlers (83.43%) had normal fine motor development, and 129 toddlers (82.16%) with normal development had mothers with a good role. The Chi-square test yielded p=0.003. Maternal roles were significantly associated with fine motor development among toddlers aged 1–5 years. Family stimulation, counseling, and early developmental detection should be maintained.
