Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is a crucial effort to improve infant nutritional and health status and support the achievement of the target of reducing infant mortality. However, exclusive breastfeeding coverage in Mukomuko Regency has yet to reach the national target. This study aims to analyze factors influencing exclusive breastfeeding among infants in the Air Manjunto Health Center in Mukomuko Regency in 2025. This study used quantitative methods with a descriptive analytical design and a cross-sectional approach. The study population was all 372 mothers with infants aged 6–24 months, with a sample of 79 respondents selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed univariately, bivariately using the chi-square test, and multivariately using logistic regression. The results showed that the majority of respondents were multiparous (63.3%), unemployed (74.7%), and received support from health workers (77.2%). Bivariate analysis revealed a relationship between parity, employment, health worker support, breastfeeding self-efficacy, and sociocultural factors with exclusive breastfeeding. Multivariate analysis showed that breastfeeding self-efficacy was the most dominant factor influencing exclusive breastfeeding. The study concluded that the success of exclusive breastfeeding is influenced by individual factors, support from health workers, and psychological and sociocultural factors. Increasing maternal confidence in breastfeeding and strengthening support from health workers and families is necessary to increase the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding.
