Factors Associated with Mothers’ Interest in Using Contraception at the Kasih Family Planning Clinic Lubuklinggau City 2025

Abstract

The use of contraception is crucial in family planning programs to control population growth and improve maternal and child health. However, many mothers remain uninterested in using contraception, influenced by factors such as knowledge, informed choice, and spousal support. Research Objective: To identify the factors associated with mothers’ interest in using contraception at the Kasih Bunda Maternal and Child Health Clinic in Lubuklinggau City in 2025. The study design was an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 35 respondents using total sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test. Most respondents had insufficient knowledge (51.4%), understood informed choice (60.0%), received spousal support (51.4%), and were interested in using contraception (51.4%). Bivariate analysis results showed significant associations between: knowledge and interest (p=0.000), informed choice and interest (p=0.000), and spousal support and interest (p=0.000). Healthcare providers are advised to improve the quality of family planning counseling by providing comprehensive information and involving husbands to increase mothers’ interest in using contraception.
