Peran Edukasi Hukum Dalam Pencegahan Penyalahgunaan Narkotika Dikalangan Pelajar
Abstract
Narcotics abuse is a health, social, and legal problem that can threaten students’ development and future. Limited knowledge of the dangers of narcotics, peer pressure, social environments, and legal consequences may increase students’ vulnerability to narcotics abuse. This community service activity aimed to improve students’ legal knowledge and awareness and strengthen their ability to prevent narcotics abuse. The activity was conducted on May 6, 2026, at Sanggar Tempang Tigo, Malabero Subdistrict, Bengkulu City. An educational, communicative, and participatory approach was employed through several stages: needs identification, material preparation, legal education, discussion and question-and-answer sessions, evaluation, and follow-up planning. The materials covered the definition and dangers of narcotics, contributing factors to abuse, health and social impacts, legal consequences under Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, and strategies for refusing offers and avoiding high-risk environments. The activity was evaluated qualitatively through observation, direct questions, reflective discussions, and participants’ responses to case examples. The results indicated an improvement in participants’ understanding and awareness of the dangers of narcotics, legal consequences, the importance of choosing a positive social environment, and appropriate actions when encountering high-risk situations. The activity also strengthened the potential role of Sanggar Tempang Tigo as a nonformal educational and youth development space. Program sustainability requires regular legal education, measurable evaluation, the use of digital media, and collaboration among families, schools, communities, universities, government agencies, and other relevant institutions.
