The Relationship Between Dietary Patterns And Nutritional Status On The Incidence Of Hypertension In Elderly People In The Working Area Of The Surulangun Community Health Center In 2023
Abstract
The elderly are very susceptible to diseases related to the aging process, one of which is hypertension. Diet is one of the main modifiable risk factors for hypertension. Another factor that triggers hypertension is unbalanced nutritional status. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between diet and nutritional status with the incidence of hypertension in the elderly in the Surulangun Community Health Center work area in 2023. The design in this study used an analytical observational with a cross-sectional approach. Sampling using a nonprobability sampling method with a purposive sampling technique, respondents were elderly patients visiting the Surulangun Community Health Center. The independent variables in this study were diet and nutritional status, while the dependent variable was the incidence of hypertension. Statistical tests in this study used bivariate analysis chi-square test. The results obtained showed that the majority of respondents (63.8%) had poor diet, the majority of respondents (60.9%) were overweight and the majority of respondents (60.9%) had hypertension. From the results of the bivariate analysis, it is known that there is a relationship between dietary patterns and the incidence of hypertension in the elderly with a p value of 0.000 <α = 0.05 and there is a relationship between nutritional status and the incidence of hypertension in the elderly with a p value of 0.000 <α = 0.05. It is hoped that health workers can implement health education to patients in the preoperative stage so that they can improve the quality of nursing services and family members so they can accompany family members who will undergo surgery to avoid excessive anxiety.
