Abstract
Adherence to treatment is defined as the behavior of patients who comply with all advice and instructions recommended by medical personnel. Quality of life is defined as providing the opportunity to live comfortably, maintaining a physiological state that is balanced with the psychological state in daily life. In 2024, Indonesia found around 889 thousand cases of TB, with 802 thousand cases treated (World Health Organization, 2024). The purpose of this study is to determine a correlation between medication adherence and quality of life in pulmonary TB patients. The method used was descriptive analytical research using a cross-sectional design. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires to 67 pulmonary TB respondents. The sampling method used in this study was total sampling. The results of the univariate analysis showed that more than half of the respondents, 44 people (65.7%), had moderate medication adherence, 13 respondents (19.4%) had high medication adherence, and 12 respondents (17.9%) had low medication adherence. High medication adherence was found in 13 respondents (19.4%) and low medication adherence in 12 respondents (17.9%). Most respondents, 34 people (50.7%), had a good quality of life, while 33 respondents (49.3%) had a poor quality of life. The results of the bivariate analysis showed a correlation between medication adherence and the quality of life of pulmonary TB patients at AR Bunda Hospital Prabumulih, Outpatient Facility with a p value (< 0.001) < α (0.05). The researcher recommends that the hospital promote education for TB patients to understand the benefits and negative effects of non-adherence to pulmonary TB medication through health promotion programs.
