Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by elevated blood glucose levels (hyperglycemia) due to impaired insulin production by the pancreas or decreased sensitivity to insulin. Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFU) are a major complication that can occur in people with DM. Education regarding self-care for the feet is an important strategy for early prevention of diabetic foot ulcers. Education regarding self-care for the feet is effective in reducing the risk of foot wounds, preventing infection, and reducing amputation rates (Kurniawan, D., Haryanti & Wahyuni, 2021). This research method is descriptive in the form of a case study, which includes an assessment aimed at providing a detailed overview of the background, nature, and characteristics of a case. The subjects in this case study were two clients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria.Evaluation results for clients 1 and 2 showed that self-care foot education can improve the prevention of diabetic foot ulcers in patients with diabetes, as evidenced by behavioral changes in both clients consistent with self-care foot care. Nurses are expected to be able to provide and improve the quality of nursing care to clients, particularly interventions for patients with diabetes mellitus based on Evidence-Based Practice, namely providing self-care foot education.
