Factors Influencing the Decision to Use Contraceptives in Fertile Age Couples at the Muara Tiga Community Health Center, Mulak Ulu District, Lahat Regency
Abstract
Improving the quality of reproductive health is one of the main priorities in health development in Indonesia. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), global population growth continues to show significant figures, with a projected world population estimated to reach 8.5 billion people by 2030. In Indonesia, the family planning (KB) program has been running for a long time, but the rate of contraceptive use still shows fluctuations. The National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) of Indonesia noted that contraceptive use in Indonesia in 2022 reached 56.6% of married couples of childbearing age. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence the decision to use contraception in childbearing age couples at the Muara Tiga Community Health Center, Mulak Ulu District, Lahat Regency. This type of research is analytical with a cross-sectional research design, namely a study to study the dynamics of the correlation between risk factors and effects, by means of an approach, observation or data collection simultaneously at a time. The population in this study were mothers of childbearing age in the Muara Tiga Community Health Center area, Mulak Ulu District, Lahat Regency, amounting to 2,069 couples. This study used a simple random sampling technique with a sample size of 95 respondents. The results indicate a relationship between maternal knowledge, husband's support, and stigma and contraceptive use decisions among fertile couples at the Muara Tiga Community Health Center, Mulak Ulu District, Lahat Regency.
