Abstract

The provision of colostrum has been recommended by the World Health Organization and the Indonesian Health Survey (2023) the proportion of mothers who provide colostrum is 83%, the proportion of mothers who discard some of the colostrum is 3.3%, the proportion of colostrum that is discarded all is 2.1%. The purpose of this study is the relationship between maternal knowledge and attitudes with the provision of colostrum to newborns in the Telaga Dewa Health Center Work Area, Bengkulu City in 2025. The research method used is descriptive research with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling technique with a number of samples in the study amounting to 85 mothers who have newborns in the Telaga Dewa Health Center Work Area, Bengkulu City in 2025. The results of the univariate test analysis Almost some of the respondents (37.6%) have less knowledge, Most of the respondents (50.6%) have less knowledge, Most of the respondents (51.8%) are not given colostrum. The results of the bivariate analysis obtained the level of knowledge (0.000) and attitude (0.000) of mothers with the provision of colostrum to newborns. There is a relationship between knowledge and attitudes of mothers with the provision of colostrum to newborns in the Telaga Dewa Community Health Center Work Area, Bengkulu City in 2025. Researchers suggest that the research site conduct routine counseling to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers about the benefits of colostrum to increase knowledge and form positive attitudes.
