Analysis of Nurse Workload on Nurse Stress Levels in the ICU and Emergency Unit of Bunda Prabumulih Hospital
Abstract
Nurses play a crucial role in healthcare, particularly in the intensive care unit (ICU) and emergency room (ER), which are among the most crucial parts of a hospital. The stress experienced by ICU and ER nurses is often directly related to the high intensity of their work and stressful situations. According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 50% to 70% of healthcare workers worldwide experience stress, with nurses being one of the most vulnerable groups. The workload of nurses in the ICU and ER is very high, given the complexity of the tasks they must perform in an environment with critical patient conditions. The purpose of this study was to analyze the nurses' workload and stress levels in the ICU and ER at Bunda Prabumulih Hospital. This study used an analytical approach with a cross-sectional design, which is a study to study the dynamics of the correlation between risk factors and effects, through an approach, observation, or data collection simultaneously at one time. The population in this study was all nurses in the ICU and ER at Bunda Prabumulih Hospital with a total population of 58 people. The total population was obtained from data available at Bunda Prabumulih Hospital. In this study, a total sampling technique was used, where sampling was based on certain conditions, so the total sample in this study was 58 respondents. The results of this study showed that more than half of the respondents (44) (75.9%) had a light workload, while 43 respondents (74.1%) had low stress levels, and there was a relationship between the Analysis of Nurse Workload and Nurse Stress Levels in the ICU and Emergency Unit of Bunda Prabumulih Hospital. Suggestions for this study can increase scientific insight and knowledge regarding the relationship between nurse workload and the levels of stress they experience, especially in the ICU and Emergency Unit.
