Factors Related To The Occurrence of Pulmonary Tuberculosis in The Working Area of Tanjung Sakti Health Center, Lahat Regency

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the top 10 causes of death worldwide and the leading cause of death from infectious agents. According to data from the Tanjung Sakti Community Health Center (Puskesmas), there were 17 cases of pulmonary TB in 2023. The purpose of this study was to determine factors associated with the incidence of pulmonary TB in the Tanjung Sakti Community Health Center's work area, Lahat Regency. This study used a quantitative, descriptive-analytical research method using a case-control design. The case sample consisted of 17 AFB positive respondents using a total sampling technique, and the control sample consisted of 17 respondents using a simple random sampling technique. The research instrument used a questionnaire. Univariate and bivariate analysis with the chi-square test were used for analysis. The results showed a relationship between knowledge, smoking habits, and the role of health workers with the incidence of pulmonary TB in the Tanjung Sakti Community Health Center's work area, Lahat Regency. There is a need for increased health promotion related to pulmonary TB by health workers, as well as an increased role for health workers.
