The Influence of Health Education on Pregnant Women's Knowledge About Pregnancy Emergency Signs and Their Compliance with ANC Checkups in the Work Area of Telaga Dewa Health Center, Bengkulu City

Abstract

Health education on pregnancy emergency warning signs is essential because delayed recognition of risk symptoms may hinder pregnant women from seeking timely pregnancy examinations. This activity aimed to analyze the effect of health education on pregnant women's knowledge of pregnancy emergency warning signs in relation to compliance with pregnancy examinations in the working area of Telaga Dewa Public Health Center, Bengkulu City. The method used an analytical quantitative approach with a before-and-after evaluation of a health education intervention involving 24 pregnant women. Data were collected using a knowledge questionnaire and analyzed through univariate and bivariate procedures with a paired test. The results showed that before the intervention, most respondents had a moderate level of knowledge at 54.2%, while after the intervention, good knowledge increased to 54.2% and no respondent remained in the poor knowledge category. The paired test produced a significance value of 0.000, indicating a meaningful effect of health education on knowledge improvement. These findings confirm that structured education can serve as a health promotion strategy to strengthen pregnant women's readiness to recognize warning signs and support more compliant pregnancy examinations.
