Abstract
Cough and cold, commonly known as the common cold, are prevalent conditions in infants, toddlers, and young children. Thus, safe treatment approaches with few side effects are required. One non-pharmacological option is common cold massage therapy, which may assist in relieving symptoms in infants. This study aims to examine the effect of common cold massage therapy on reducing cough and cold symptoms in infants aged 3 to 24 months at PMB Sutimah. The present study utilized a quantitative pre-experimental method, with a sample of 30 respondents included, infants aged 3-24 months, selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test observation sheets and analyzed using SPSS. The study showed that at pre-test, 80% of respondents had moderate cough and cold symptoms. After the intervention, 93.3% of infants aged 3–24 months experienced a reduction to mild symptoms. The Wilcoxon test using SPSS produced a significant result (p = 0.000, p < 0.05), indicating that common cold massage therapy significantly reduced cough and cold symptoms. This study indicates that common cold massage can reduce the occurrence of cough and cold symptoms in infants aged 3 to 24 months.
