The Influence Of Deep Breathing Exercise (Dbe) On Oxygen Saturation In Children With Pneumonia At Annisa Hospital, Rejang Lebong In 2025
Abstract
Pneumonia is the leading infectious cause of death in children worldwide. Pneumonia killed 700,000 children under the age of 5 in 2021, accounting for 14% of all deaths in children under 5 and 22% of all deaths in children aged 1 to 5. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of deep breathing exercise (DBE) on oxygen saturation in children with pneumonia in Rejang Lebong Regency in 2025.The research method used was a quasi-experimental study using a one-group pretest-posttest. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, with a sample size of 34 children.The results of the univariate analysis showed a mean oxygen saturation of 91.80 before the intervention, and 96.47 after the intervention. The results of the bivariate analysis showed a p-value of 0.000 for the effect of deep breathing exercise (DBE) on oxygen saturation in children with pneumonia. Deep breathing exercise (DBE) has an effect on oxygen saturation in children with pneumonia at Annisa Hospital, Rejang Lebong, in 2025.Researchers recommend that hospitals implement DBE as a non-pharmacological intervention for children with pneumonia and that healthcare workers be trained to teach it to patients and families.
