The Relationship Between Mothers' Knowledge And Attitudes About High-Risk Pregnancy And The Completeness Of Antenatal Care (Anc) In The Teras Terunjam Public Health Center Work Area
Abstract
Antenatal care is a visit by a pregnant woman to a midwife or doctor as early as possible after she suspects she is pregnant to receive antenatal care. High-risk pregnancies are dangerous disorders that can potentially cause maternal death. Antenatal care is an important indicator for reducing maternal and child mortality. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between mothers' knowledge and attitudes about high-risk pregnancies and the completeness of antenatal care (ANC) in the Teras Terunjam Community Health Center (Puskesmas) work area. This study used an observational analytical cross-sectional approach. The sample was drawn using a nonprobability sampling method with a purposive sampling technique. Respondents were pregnant women between 37 and 40 weeks' gestation who visited the Teras Terunjam Community Health Center. The independent variables in this study were knowledge and attitudes, while the dependent variable was the completeness of antenatal care (ANC). Statistical analysis used bivariate chi-square tests. The results showed that almost all respondents had good knowledge, most had favorable attitudes, and most received complete antenatal care. Bivariate analysis revealed a relationship between maternal knowledge about high-risk pregnancies and the completeness of antenatal care (ANC), with a p-value of 0.003 <α = 0.05, and a relationship between maternal attitudes about high-risk pregnancies and the completeness of antenatal care (ANC), with a p-value of 0.002 <α = 0.05. It is hoped that health workers can implement health education for pregnant women to improve the quality of midwifery services, and that families are aware of the importance of accompanying pregnant women during ANC examinations to prevent high-risk pregnancies.
