The Effect of Calf Raise Training on Increasing Lower Limb Muscle Explosive Power in Volleyball Extracurricular Players at MTs Negeri 02 Kepahiang
Abstract
Lower-limb explosive power is important in volleyball because it supports jumping, rapid positional changes, and attacking movements. This study examined the effect of calf-raise training on lower-limb explosive power among volleyball extracurricular players at MTS Negeri 02 Kepahiang. A quantitative approach was used with 20 players as the sample. Performance was measured before and after the calf-raise training program using a lower-limb power assessment recorded in test categories. The mean score increased from 2.05 at pretest to 2.95 at posttest. Liliefors tests indicated normal distributions for both measurements, while the homogeneity test produced F = 0.93, below the critical value of 3.52. The relationship analysis produced a correlation coefficient of approximately 0.97 and a coefficient of determination of 94.09%. Hypothesis testing yielded a t value of 8.23, exceeding the critical value of 2.10, indicating a significant training effect. The findings suggest that calf raises can support the development of lower-limb explosive power in school volleyball training, provided that exercise intensity and technique are adjusted to the participants' ability.
