Smart Waste Management: Utilizing Marketable Waste for PKH Recipients in Berkas Subdistrict
Abstract
Household waste is one of the environmental problems that needs to be addressed through proper management at the source. One of the measures that can be implemented is sorting waste according to its type and identifying waste that still has potential economic value. The “Smart Waste Management” activity aimed to provide beneficiaries of the Family Hope Program (Program Keluarga Harapan/PKH) in Berkas Village with an understanding of the types of household waste, the differences between organic and inorganic waste, and how to sort waste that has potential economic value. This activity was an individual Community Service Program (KKN) conducted three times using socialization and discussion methods. The materials were delivered using PowerPoint presentations complemented by images of common types of waste, such as cardboard, plastic bottles, and cans. Overall, there were approximately 76 participant attendances across the three activity sessions. The results showed that participants followed the presentation with sufficient focus and actively engaged in the question-and-answer sessions, particularly regarding the differences between organic and inorganic waste. This activity served as an initial step in providing the community with insights into the importance of sorting waste at the household level and identifying waste that can still be utilized and has potential economic value.
