In the classical era (7th–13th century CE), intellectual activities were holistic and multidisciplinary, producing encyclopedic scholars such as Ibn Sina and Ibn Rushd. During the medieval period, a dichotomy emerged between religious and secular sciences, leading to intellectual stagnation and the decline of dialogue between various branches of knowledge. In the modern era (19th century to present), systematic, critical, and contextual approaches—such as those proposed by Fazlur Rahman—emerged to address the backwardness of Muslim societies in science, politics, and education. The postmodern era saw a transformation towards integrative intellectual movements involving interdisciplinary collaboration and the harmonization of religious and secular knowledge. These movements reflect a contextual, reflective, and cooperative response to global challenges. The study concludes that the evolution of Islamic intellectual movements is strongly influenced by social, political, economic, and external factors. In practice, these patterns often coexist within a single society, as seen in Indonesia, demonstrating the flexibility and complexity of Islamic intellectual dynamics across different historical periods.
Bustomi Bustomi, Ismail Ismail, Fajri Ismail, Zuhdiyah Zuhdiyah ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jurnal.unived.ac.id/index.php/mude/article/view/8881 Thu, 26 Jun 2025 09:21:44 +0000 Faktor-Faktor Yang Mempengaruhi Gerakan Intelektual Dan Lahirnya Institusi Pendidikan Islam https://jurnal.unived.ac.id/index.php/mude/article/view/8878
This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the rise of intellectual movements in Islam and their contributions to the establishment of Islamic educational institutions. The study adopts a qualitative-descriptive method through literature review of scholarly works and historical data. The findings reveal that the Islamic intellectual movement was shaped by five major factors: social, political, economic, cultural, and religious. Social factors involve community structures and intergroup relations; political factors highlight the role of caliphs and rulers in supporting education; economic factors include access to resources and the role of trade in spreading knowledge; cultural factors reflect scientific traditions and intercultural interactions; while religious factors emphasize the central role of knowledge in Islamic teachings. These intellectual movements led to the formation of educational institutions such as madrasas and early Islamic universities (e.g., Al-Qarawiyyin and Al-Azhar), which played key roles in advancing scientific knowledge and developing Muslim character. In conclusion, the Islamic intellectual movement significantly contributed to building an integrated educational system rooted in both scientific inquiry and spirituality, and it remains relevant in contemporary educational discourse.
I.M. Although online gambling is regulated in the Criminal Code and the Electronic Information and Transactions Law, in practice, law enforcement at the local level still faces various obstacles. The method used is a legal-empirical approach with a descriptive-analytical framework. Data was collected through interviews with village officials, police, and community members, supplemented by literature reviews. The findings indicate that weak law enforcement is attributed to limited technological resources, low public legal awareness, and inadequate coordination among law enforcement agencies. From a criminalisation perspective, online gambling remains relevant for criminal prosecution, but its mitigation must be accompanied by preventive and educational approaches. This study recommends strengthening the capacity of officials, updating regulations to be more adaptive to digital crimes, and actively involving the community in building a legal culture that is anti-gambling.
Chairuni Nasution, Abdurrahman H.
