An Expert System For Diagnosing Dengue Fever, Malaria, And Chikungunya Using An Integrated AHP And Certainty Factor Method
Abstract
Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF), malaria, and chikungunya are diseases commonly found in tropical regions and share several similar symptoms, which can make early identification difficult. This study aimed to design and develop a web-based expert system capable of assisting users in the initial diagnosis of DHF, malaria, and chikungunya based on the symptoms experienced. The system was developed by integrating the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Certainty Factor (CF) methods. The AHP method was used to determine the priority level of each symptom based on expert assessments, while the CF method was used to calculate the degree of confidence in the resulting diagnosis. The system was developed using PHP programming language and a MySQL database. System testing was conducted using Black Box Testing and accuracy testing. The results showed that all system functions operated according to user requirements, and the system achieved an accuracy rate of 100% based on 10 test cases compared with expert diagnoses. The findings indicate that the system is capable of providing preliminary diagnoses along with their confidence levels quickly and systematically, making it suitable as a supporting tool for disease consultation.
