Peningkatan Kompetensi Sosial-Emosional Guru Sekolah Dasar Xaverius II Palembang Berbasis Studi Kasus
Abstract
Teachers' social-emotional competence is important for supporting positive learning interactions, effective classroom management, and constructive relationships between teachers and students. This community service activity aimed to strengthen teachers' social-emotional competence through a case study-based approach at Xaverius II Elementary School, Palembang. The activity for the school's teachers was carried out through material delivery, discussion, case study analysis, role play practice, and reflection. The evaluation used pretest and posttest instruments to observe the tendency of change in participants' social-emotional competence, as well as an evaluation of the activity's implementation. The analysis showed an increasing tendency in the mean score from 3.88 in the pretest to 3.99 in the posttest, a change of 0.11 or approximately 2.76%. The most noticeable increase occurred in the relationship skills dimension, although changes across dimensions did not show a uniform pattern. Participants' evaluation of the activity's implementation showed a mean score of 4.40 on a 5-point scale. The case study and role play approach provided space for teachers to identify social-emotional situations, consider alternative responses, and practice decision-making in situations resembling real school conditions. A case-based approach can serve as an alternative for strengthening teachers' social-emotional competence and can be further developed through continuous mentoring.
