Alat Pengepres dan Bank Sampah Botol Plastik di Sentra Lentog Tanjung
Abstract
Plastic bottle waste, particularly polyethylene terephthalate, keeps increasing due to high consumption of packaged beverages, while community-based waste management remains suboptimal. A similar condition is found in Sentra Lentog Tanjung, Tanjungkarang Village, a culinary center with dense daily trading activity. This community service program designs a plastic bottle press and establishes a Used Bottle Waste Bank to improve waste-management efficiency and to support the climate village program. Activities covered observation, needs identification, tool design and fabrication, socialization, training, waste-bank establishment, and evaluation. Results show that the press reduces bottle volume, easing storage and distribution to collectors, while the waste bank encourages traders and residents to routinely sort and collect plastic bottles. The program applies the reduce, reuse, recycle principle through appropriate technology integrated with local economic activity, offering a model that can be replicated in other culinary centers facing similar issues.
