The Relationship Between Lower-Body Muscle Strength and Eye-Foot Coordination and Futsal Passing Accuracy in the Extracurricular Program at SMPN 21, Bengkulu City
Abstract
This study aims to determine the relationship between lower-body muscle strength and eye-foot coordination and the accuracy of futsal passes among students in the extracurricular program at SMP Negeri 21 in Bengkulu City. The study employed a quantitative approach using a correlational method. The study population consisted of 18 students, all of whom were included in the sample through total sampling. Lower-body muscle strength was measured using the Standing Broad Jump, eye-foot coordination using the Soccer Wall Volley Test, and passing accuracy was measured through passing and ball control tests. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, a normality test, Pearson’s product-moment correlation, multiple correlation, the coefficient of determination, and an F-test at a 5% significance level. The results showed that lower-body muscle strength was significantly associated with passing accuracy (r = 0.583) and contributed 33.95%. Eye-foot coordination was also significantly associated with passing accuracy (r = 0.536) and contributed 28.71%. Simultaneously, lower-body muscle strength and eye-foot coordination were significantly associated with passing accuracy, with R = 0.682 and R² = 46.5%. The F-test results showed that the calculated F-value (Fhitung) = 6.52 was greater than the critical F-value (Ftable) = 3.68. These findings confirm that both components need to be developed in an integrated manner within training programs to improve students’ passing accuracy.
