The Effect of Playing Methods on the Underhand Passing Skills of Female Extracurricular Participants at State High School 16 in North Bengkulu
Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of playing methods on the underhand passing skills of female volleyball club members at State High School 16 in North Bengkulu. The study employed an experimental approach using a pre-experimental design of the One-Group Pretest-Posttest type. All members of the girls’ volleyball club were selected as the sample through total sampling, comprising 15 participants. The intervention consisted of 12 sessions, held three times per week, and involved various passing games such as the Passing Relay, Chain Bounce Volleyball, and Target Volleyball, with a gradual increase in training volume and intensity. Underhand passing skills were measured using the Brumbach Forearm Pass Wall-Volley Test. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality tests, homogeneity tests, and a paired-sample t-test at a 5% significance level. The pretest mean of 16.67 increased to 21.73 on the posttest, representing an average increase of 5.07 points. The pretest and posttest data were normally distributed, and the variances were found to be homogeneous. and the t-test results showed t = 14.704 with Sig. (2-tailed) < 0.001. These results indicate that the game-based method has a significant effect on improving underhand passing skills. The game-based method can be used as a fun, structured training alternative that encourages active participation among extracurricular program participants.
