The Contribution of Agility and Speed to Dribbling Among Futsal Players in the Himajas Extracurricular Club at Dehasen University in Bengkulu
Abstract
This study aims to determine the relationship between agility and speed and the dribbling ability of futsal athletes. The research method used was a quantitative method with a correlational approach. The population in this study consisted of 20 futsal athletes, and the entire population was used as the research sample using total sampling. The instruments used in this study included agility tests, speed tests, and dribbling ability tests. The data analysis techniques used were descriptive analysis, normality tests, product-moment correlation, multiple correlation, the coefficient of determination, and significance tests at a level of α = 0.05. The results of the study indicate that: (1) there is a significant relationship between agility and dribbling ability, with a correlation coefficient of 0.486 and a contribution of 23.62%; (2) there is a relationship between speed and dribbling ability, with a correlation coefficient of 0.810 and a contribution of 3.24%; and (3) there is a significant combined relationship between agility and speed and dribbling ability, with a multiple correlation coefficient of 0.553 and a contribution of 30.6%. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that agility and speed are related to futsal players’ dribbling ability. Agility contributes more to dribbling ability than speed does. Therefore, coaches are advised to design training programs that improve agility and speed to help futsal players enhance their dribbling ability.
